Frequently Asked Questions

We have done our best to come up with some frequently asked questions and answers so that we can make your trip with us go as smoothly as possible. Below is some Q&A. If there is any thing missing from this list never hesitate to call or email us a question, We are happy to help.

  • You may have noticed that our website does not feature a one-click option to book a trip with us. This is intentional, as we prioritize understanding your specific desires for a fishing trip to Alaska. Pat prefers to converse with you personally, ensuring that we align with your expectations and desires.

Our love for what we do drives us to connect with guests who seek exactly what we offer—nothing more, nothing less.

If you choose to book a trip with us, a $500 deposit is required to secure your spot. Additionally, a 50% deposit of the total trip cost is due by January 1st of the year in which your trip takes place. The remaining balance must be paid in full by June 1st of that same year.

As we are nearly fully booked for the current season, placing a deposit will guarantee your reservation. Please note that all deposits made are non-refundable.

  • Italio River Adventures is located 20 miles East of Yakutat, Alaska.
You will need to arrive into Yakutat on Alaska Airlines Flight 61 and depart your trip on Alaska Airlines flight 66.
The only way to reach Italio River Adventures is by small bush plane and we will arrange those flights for you.
You get yourself to Yakutat and We've got you from here.

  • You will need to buy your fishing license online ahead of time. You will need a non-resident, 7-day, sport fishing license The license can be obtained on the Alaska Department of Fish & Game website .

  • ADF&G regulations for the Italio Rivers are 4 silver salmon per day and 8 total silver salmon in possession. That's a healthy amount and typically is between 40-50 lbs of filleted salmon. At the end of your fishing day Pat will fillet out whatever salmon you decide to keep for the day and from there you will use our commercial grade Vacuum sealer to vacuum seal the fillets fresh and then we will put them in our freezer to get them frozen before you travel home. We HIGHLY recommend you to get a soft sided cooler bag to take your fish home with you. On your way here they are easy to pack in the bottom of your bag without taking up much weight or room. The cooler bags are also a lot easier to load in and out of the smaller planes that we use. We have a soft sided cooler bag suggestion in our "What do I bring" List below.

  • When you put a deposit down for a trip you are holding your booking, so that it is available for you and no one else. If you must cancel your trip and give us adequate notice AND we are able to fill your spot with another person or group,  we will apply 100% of your deposit to the following year.  This policy is not negotiable and giving Italio River Adventures a deposit means you understand that there is no refund,  no matter what the circumstances.  We usually only operate for 8 groups during a season so spots are very limited and last minute cancellations will not be refunded.

  • We have been in business for over 25 years, and year after year, we hear the same feedback from our clients: “We are so glad we can’t connect with the outside world. This is the one place I can come and rest from our busy lives.”

While we are aware of advancements like Starlink and the ability for iPhones to send texts from anywhere, we will not promote these services at our camp. We prioritize genuine connections without distractions. The concept of disconnecting to reconnect is truly meaningful, and we believe you will appreciate this aspect of your stay with us.
